"... this program is committed to excellence in performance on and off the court. We will perform as champions in every sense of the word, regardless of the circumstances."
SANDY TROUDT
Q. Generally speaking, what do you consider as your philosophical approach to the sport of volleyball?
A. I prefer to stress lifetime skills in leadership, communication, time and stress management, goal setting and goal attainment, along with the knowledge of and benefits of physical fitness. Everything I teach in volleyball is really meant to be taken off the court for student-athlete lete to use when she is finished competing. Volleyball is basically a great way to learn how to be a quite productive and happy individual.
Q. What do you view as a recipe for success ... for winning?
A. First, we must begin by setting goals that are difficult yet attainable, then work hard to get them accomplished. Through this we want to build excellent work ethics and to continue putting more work into our goals than our competition.
Of course, it is always key to get the most from the physical talent on the court by putting people in the right place(s) at the right time. We also will develop a strong belief in a cohesive organization ... "an everything for the team" attitude.
Additionally we must constantly pay attention to details, ensuring that every person is on "equal footing" giving 100% to the program's goals. Naturally, having and executing a great Volleyball System always enhances the personnel on the court.
Q. What are your views on meshing academics and athletics?
A. I firmly believe the two go hand in hand. It is not enough for my athletes to merely excel in volleyball, but it is imperative that they also achieve academic successes -- high grade point averages and graduation.
Q. In conclusion, a fill-in the blank promise would be:
A. Simply, this program is committed to excel in performance, on and off the court. We will perform as champions in every sense of the word, regardless of the circumstances.
