A pair of standouts at O.D. Wyatt, Michael Ashton and Johnny Collins, boast some of the area's best sprint marks. Ashton has been clocked at 10.48 at 100 meters as well as running a leg on the Chaps' top-ranked 4x100 relay, while Collins has turned a 48.20 at 400 meters and is a member of Wyatt's 4 x 400 quartet, also one of the state's best.

The lone hurdler of the group is Prosper's Michael Whitmarsh. Thus far in 1996, he holds the area's top time in the 110 hurdles (13.83) and the area's second quickest time in the 300 hurdles (38.19).

This group brings the number of prep signees inked by first-year head coach Monte Stratton to 10. A pair of local prospects signed during the November early-signing period, Alison Harvey, a senior at Fort Worth Arlington Heights and senior Tameka Rodriguez of Carrollton Newman Smith.
