• (2/29) TCU men's golf coach, Bill Montigel, was given a multi-year contract extension.
  "We think the future is very, very bright for the men's golf program at TCU," said Frank Windegger, TCU's director of athletics.
  "We have recruited some of the top golfers and continue to improve our program (the Frogs currently ranked #4 for 1996). Our goal is to build the best college golf program in the country, both in winning tournaments and academic achievement," said Montigel.

• (2/27) Rick Smith has been hired as the secondary coach at TCU, replacing the vacancy created when Chris Thurmond left the Horned Frog football program for OU.
  Smith has been an assistant at Purdue the last two years. A former standout as a strong safety at Purdue, Smith was the defensive captain for the 1991 Boilermaker team.
  "I considered myself extremely fortunate, at this stage of my career, to be able to take a job of this caliber within a quality program," said Smith.

• (2/26) Saipele Tuialii will miss the A&M game with an ankle sprain. James Penny is finishing strong.
• (2/25) The TCU baseball team lost both games yesterday; 9-8 to UT Pan-Am, and 5-0 to Purdue. Their record is now 11-9.
• (2/24)The TCU men's basketball team defeated SMU, 87-79.
• The TCU baseball team swept UT Pan-Am yesterday, winning 7-2, and 8-7.
• The TCU men's basketball team defeated Rice, 70-67.

• (2/20)TCU rallied to defeat #9 Oklahoma, 10-9, on a great day for baseball at the TCU diamond.
• (2/18) The TCU men's golf team finished 6th in the competitive Big Island Intercollegiate Tournament in Hawaii. Grady Girard (226) finished 7th individually, while Brent Wolf (228) was 14th.
• (2/18) The TCU baseball team loses to La. Tech, 11-5.
• (2/17) TCU men's basketball team loses to Baylor 72-70.
• (2/17) The TCU baseball team loses to La. Tech, 7-1.
• (2/16) Jennifer Hickman of the Lady Frogs was selected as the SWC player of the week.
• (2/15) According to Juan Bragg, the "mutual agreement" occurred after Billy Tubbs learned that the two players intended to transfer after the season.

  As an update, last week's blitz by recruiting fanatics made the recruiting page by far the most popular (over 3000 different visitors last week), and this sports page has now had visitors from over 40 states and 30 nations.
• The TCU baseball team defeated Tarleton State 23-3, as Matt Howe tied a conference record with 6 hits.
• Juan Bragg and Princeston Parks have quit the Horned Frog basketball team. Billy Tubbs called their departures a "mutual agreement," and that the players were neither dismissed or suspended. Bragg, last years SWC newcomer of the year, was plagued by injuries this season, after coming in out of shape. Parks, considered one of the top 5 recruits in Texas last season, had received little playing time this season after being slowed initially with a hand injury.

  Parks and Bragg were expected to be two cornerstones in the Frogs rebuilding program along with Damion Walker and Durmond Freeman. Freeman was unable to enter TCU this Fall, and is at Tyler Jr. College.

• (2/11) TCU is blown out at home by Texas, 102-81.
• (2/10) TCU splits with Oral Roberts, winning 10-9 in the 2nd game, after losing the first 3-2.
• (2/10) Jessica Rangel of San Antonio Clark and Jill Pape of San Antonio East Central have also signed with the TCU volleyball.
• TCU's baseball team defeated Oral Roberts 13-2, in the opener of a three game series. There is a doubleheader at noon today (Feb 10).
• Kurt Thomas will be a participant in the NBA rookie All-Star game.
• Annie Gant, the setter for the highly succesful Arlington Martin volleyball team, has signed with TCU.
• TCU baseball team defeats Dallas Baptist 14-9.
• TCU loses to Tech, 85-70.
• The TCU/UTA baseball games scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to snow and ice. The games are rescheduled for March 26 and April 30th.
• The TCU baseball team went 4-4 on their wet trip to Hawaii. Three games were rained out, while others were delayed. 2B David Johnson, a transfer from McClennan had two homers, and 11 RBIs, while going 10 for 29. Brad Wallace had two home runs, including a grand slam. The Frogs made 17 errors in the 8 games.
• Frogs fall to SMU, 87-83 in overtime.
• Brad Wallace received the Steve Macko Award which is given to the baseball program's outstanding student-athlete. Wallace, a senior second baseman, is a Finance major with a 3.45 GPA.
• TCU defeats Rice, 80-71, behind Jacobs 22 points.
• Kentucky rolls over TCU 124-80.
• (1/22) The TCU men's tennis team is currently ranked #5 in the ITA rankings. David Roditi and Paul Robinson are the nation's top doubles team, while Ashley Fisher and Jason Wire-Smith have moved into the #2 spot. Robinson is ranked #2 in singles. "We should win conference," said Roditi.
• Although Texans can now carry concealed handguns, firearms are not allowed on the TCU campus, including events at Daniel Meyer and Amon Carter.
• Walter Soza is expected to become the first TCU swimmer to compete in the Olympics. Soza has received official notification that he will compete for Nicaragua in Atlanta.
• A general fund has been set up to aid TCU football player Matt Moore at Overton Bank and Trust. Persons wishing to contribute may send a check to the:
