- (10/30) FS Barry Browning will miss a start in the UNLV game because of
an irritated disk in his back. Chris Staten will move to free
safety, and Reggie Hunt will start at strong safety.
- (10/30) The TCU women's soccer team was defeated by
Texas Tech, 5-1.
- (10/29) The TCU women's golf team finished 5th (971) at the
SDSU Fall Classic, which was held at the Carlton Oaks C.C.
Susan Horton tied for 8th (237).

win 3rd place at the Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team
Championships. Alberto Ochoa d. Keith Nolan, 6 and 5; J.J. Henry
d. Brennan Webb, 1 up; Deron Zinnecker d. Shawn Koch, 2 and 1;
Sal Spallone d. David Christensen, 1 up; Eamonn Brady d. Brent

Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. Earlier, #6 seeded TCU
defeated #3 Florida. UNLV's Ted Oh d. Alberto Ochoa, 5 and 4; Bill Lunde
d. Deron Zinnecker, 5 and 3; Jeremy Anderson d. Sal Spallone 4 and 3;
J.J. Henry halved his match with Mike Ruiz; Brent Wolf d. Gilberto
Morales, 3 and 2. The Frogs advance to tomorrow's third place match vs.
#8 East Tennessee State, who upset #1 seed Arizona State in the first
round.

- (10/27) The TCU men's golf team defeated Florida (4.5 to 0.5) in the first round of the
Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. The event
is being held at the Private Course at PGA West.

the Lady Paladin Classic in Greenville, SC. Tennessee and Wake Forest are tied for the
lead (300). Angela Stanford and Dana Schmid led the Frogs with rounds of 78.

Taylor Made Red River Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club.
Alberto Ochoa finished tied for 10th overall after firing
a 68 to finish at 210 (-6).
Sal Spallone finished in a tie for 14th, after a round
of 70 (211, -5). Chris Wollman of Ohio State finished first overall (-14)
after a final round of 64. Wake Forest won by 11 strokes (834, -30)
- (10/15) TCU's Michael Reeder was named WAC special teams player of
the week (Mountain Division). Reeder made field goals of 57, 51, and 44 yards against UTEP.
- (10/15) The TCU men's basketball team open fall drills today in preparation
for the upcoming 1996-97 basketball season. TCU has the toughest schedule
in the WAC, according to Dick Vitale's College Basketball. TCU's schedule
features 6 teams that participated in the 1995-96 NCAA Tournament.
- (10/15) DE Daryl Johnson has been suspended for violating athletic
department policy, and his career at TCU may be over. Jeff Dover and
Kevin Colon have returned to the team after their suspension, while
Derek Canine is expected to return to practice next Sunday.
- (10/14) The TCU men's golf team (290-279--569, -7) is tied for 10th after the first round
of the Taylor Made Red River Classic. Wake Forest leads with a 556 (-20).
Josh Gregory of SMU is the leader after 36 holes with a 135 (-9).
Ray Floyd Jr. is tied for second with James Driscoll of Virginia, one
shot behind (-8). TCU Freshman Sal Spallone is tied for 21st after a 71-70-141 (-3).
Alberto Ochoa (74-68-142) is tied for 28th. J.J. Henry (74-69-143) and Ron
Stegall (71-72-143) are tied for 37th.

- (10/13) The TCU men's soccer team was defeated by Tulsa, 2-0.
- (10/13) The TCU women's soccer team defeated Wyoming, 2-1. Rachel Migliore and Allison Lalleri
scored goals for the Frogs.

This was the first shutout for the Frogs since the '87 Baylor game.
Michael Reeder set a school record with his 57 yard field goal, the longest
in TCU school history.

UTEP leads the WAC in total defense (21st nationally) and passing
defense. Butkus Award Candidate Michael Corner anchors the defense.
Joseph Polk is the 6th leading rusher in the WAC, averaging 90 yards
a game.
TCU punter Royce Huffman is second in the WAC with a 44.6 average.
- (10/10) Four TCU football players - defensive tackle Gaylon Hyder,
Kevin Colon, Derek Canine, and Jeff Dover, all quarterbacks -
have been placed on "indefinite suspension" for violation of team
policy, Horned Frog head coach Pat Sullivan announced today.
Hyder, a senior, and Dover, a redshirt freshman, have served as
starters through TCU's first 4 contests of 1996. Canine and Colon,
listed as sophomores, are ineligible for competition in '96 following
their transfers from other four-year schools.

selected as the WAC cross country athlete of the week. His time of
25:20 at the North Texas Invitational is the fastest time by a WAC
runner this season.

of the Ping-Golfweek Preview Invitational. Alberto Ochoa is in 2nd place
after a round of 72. East Tennessee State (299) is the leader of a tough field
that includes the nation's top 10 teams from last spring.

Sarah Suess and Nicole Kitagawa both added a goal.

offensively in 10 years, ranking 2nd in Conference USA in rushing (157), passing
offense (213.7) and total offense (370.7); Soph QB Shaun King was listed
among the top 25 impact freshmen by College Sports magazine; FB Jerald
Sowell has 1534 career yards rushing and 83 career receptions; TB Jamaican
Dartez is a pre-season All-Conference USA selection who became Tulane's
all time freshman runner last season with 544 yards; Tulane's offensive
line includes 5 senior starters that average 305 pounds.

scoring defense (17.3); 4th in rushing defense (179.3), 6th in passing
efficiency (140.4), 5th in total defense (385.7); Tulane has allowed
only 8 points during the first 3 quarters, but 9.3 points in the fourth
quarter.
- (10/01) TCU strong safety Chris Staten is third in the WAC in tackles (12.3 per game).
- (10/01) TCU is the least penalized team in the WAC at 4.0 penalties
and 30 yards per game.
