Ben Caton added 15 points for the Utes (19-3, 11-1 WAC), who won their fourth straight game and swept the season series with TCU.
Mike Jones hit 7-of-8 from three-point range en route to a career-high 36 points for the Horned Frogs (16-9, 5-7), who had their three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-5 on the road in conference games.
Van Horn had 11 points in a 15-3 spurt as Utah took its largest lead of the first half, 28-14, with 5:27 left. TCU got as close as six on Jones' three-pointer with 1:24 left in the half, but Van Horn had a bucket in the lane as the Utes took a 39-31 lead into halftime.
Caton opened the second half with a three-pointer to restore a double-digit lead, but Jones ignited a 9-0 run as the Horned Frogs closed within 42-40 with 17:05 left on Malcolm Johnson's three-pointer.
Utah took control from that point, using a 22-6 run that was fueled by 10 points from Van Horn, to grab their largest lead at 64-46 with 10:17 to go. The Utes still led by 18 with 8:42 remaining when TCU embarked on a 17-4 spurt that was capped by Jones' three-pointer, slicing the deficit to 70-65 with 6:22 to play.

The Utes led by nine with 50 seconds left before Jones was fouled shooting a three-pointer and made all three free throws. He followed with another three-pointer to slice the lead to 90-87 with 24 seconds remaining, but Van Horn went 4-of-4 from the line to make sure TCU got no closer.
Van Horn had his second 40-point game of the season and also grabbed 11 rebounds for his 12th double-double this year. He has 2,316 career points, putting him five behind Billy McGill for the all-time school record.
