TCU (12-6, 1-4 WAC Mountain) was coming off its first-ever WAC victory after three league losses, a 101-61 victory over Brigham Young last Thursday. TCU, which is in its first year in the WAC after a long-time association with the now-defunct Southwest Conference, is 9-2 at home this year.

A 10-3 second half run increased Utah's lead to 70-61. A dunk by Van Horn with 9:06 left capped the run.
But TCU scored the next seven points on a short jumper by Damion Walker, a three-pointer by Mike Jones and a baseline drive by Johnson to pull within 70-68 with 5:15 left.
A three-pointer by Miller and a layup by David Jackson increased Utah's advantage to 75-68 with 4:13 remaining.
TCU scored the next five points to pull within two again, 75-73, with 2:45 left. But Van Horn connected on a three-pointer from the left corner with 2:15 remaining.
