#24 Mike Jones
JUNIOR COLLEGE .... As a sophomore at NEO, Jones led the Norsemen in both scoring as well as rebounding, registering 22.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per outing. His 130 assists and 75 steals also were team high-water marks. He also led the team in both field goal (58.0) as well as free throw (86.2) percentages. Jones' career-high scoring outing came when he netted 38 points against Eastern Oklahoma. At season's end, he was named to the all-Region II first-team as well as receiving all-Bi-State Athletic Conference Eastern Division honors. As a freshman during the 1994-95 campaign, Jones averaged 10.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per outing over the 30-game season. He also led the Miami, Okla. institution in rebounding during his freshman season (5.2 rpg.), as well as pacing the Norsemen with 56 steals and 102 assists. He was coached at Northeastern Oklahoma by Lonnie Spencer. HIGH SCHOOL .... A three-sport athlete while at Oklahoma City Casady Prep School, Jones was named the 1993-94 Oklahoma High School Player of the Year. As a senior, he averaged 30.3 ppg., 10.1 rpg. and 5.1 assists, in addition to setting an Oklahoma City prep scoring mark, recording 2,456 points during his four-year career. He earned State Small School player of the Year, All-City Player of the Year. His coach at Casady was Virgil Grantham. In addition to basketball, he also excelled on the gridiron, earning four football letters, as well as earning four letters in track and field. PERSONAL .... The son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jones of Oklahoma City, Okla., Mike was born March 28, 1975 in Oklahoma City. He plans to major in physical education while at TCU.
