1995-96 .... Penny's capable inside-outside abilities enabled him to perform a rare double feat. An outstanding leaper, Penny's strong inside play helped him to record 63 blocked shots over 30 games, the second-highest blocked shot total in a TCU season. In doing so, he put together four outings of five or more blocks, including a career-high seven blocks at Rice. Meanwhile, he also led the Horned Frogs from three-point range, canning 33-of-91 (36.3) to rank among conference leaders. A 29-game starter, he posted averages of 11.1 ppg., tying for the second-highest scoring average on the squad, and 5.8 rpg., also the team's second highest mark. Penny's 21 dunks led all Horned Frogs, while his 35 steals also ranked among team leaders.

1994-95 .... The high-flying Penny enjoyed some of his finest basketball towards the end of the 1994-95 campaign. During final outing of his freshman campaign, against Texas A&M, Penny went three-for-four from the field and hit five free throws for 11 points, grabbed a pair of rebounds and blocked a shot in 15 minutes of action. Other double-digit outings included his 13 points at Rice, 10 points (four-of-five from the field) against Alabama State and his season-high 17 points in just over 12 minutes of duty against Midwestern State. Then, as a member of the SWC All-Stars which toured Mexico in the summer of 1995, Penny enjoyed games of 20 and 15 points enroute to a 7.8 point average. Penny averaged 1.3 boards per game in 1994-95, with his 24-rebound total being evenly divided at both ends of the court (12 offensive, 12 defensive).

PERSONAL .... Penny was born James Aaron Penny on May 21, 1976, in Tulsa, Okla. He is majoring in computer science at TCU and is the son of Charlye Penny of Grapevine, Texas.
