1995-96.... Through the first 10 games of '95-96, Davis was averaging just 2.9 ppg. and 3.4 rpg. Then, this imposing Alvin, TX native truly proved his ability, stringing together a 13-game stretch which saw him average 8.2 ppg. and 6.2 rpg., helping raise his season averages to a very respectable 5.2 points and 5.1 rebounds. While not a prolific scorer, Davis enjoyed four double-figure scoring outings, including a season-high 15 point outing against Houston. His career best rebound night was a 13-carom haul against Rice. A fine free throw artist for a big man, Davis has hit over 70-percent from the line over his career. While making 67.7 percent over the '95-96 season, that number rose to over 70 percent during conference activity. He saw action in 27 games with seven starting nods, but missed three contests early in the year due to a knee injury.

1994-95.... A 10-game starter as a freshman, the powerful Davis developed into one of the Horned Frogs' more physical rebounders over the course of the season. When not in the starting lineup, Davis proved his worth by coming off the bench to spell current NBA star Kurt Thomas at center. Davis, who averaged 3.7 rebounds per outing, grabbed a season-high 10 caroms against Illinois Chicago. His 20 blocked shots tied the second-highest blocked shot total on the team and was tops among Horned Frog freshmen. Davis hit 74 percent from the free throw line, and was a perfect six-of-six against Midwestern State in the '94-95 season opener, and was seven-of-eight against Sam Houston State. He averaged 4.3 points per contest, with a season-high 16 coming in the season tip-off against Midwestern State, while an additional pair of double-scoring outings came against Sam Houston State and at Middle Tennessee State. Davis demonstrated his power early in his freshman season by shattering a backboard with a vicious dunk during a pre-season workout!

HIGH SCHOOL .... As a senior at Alvin (Texas) High, Davis averaged 19.9 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.8 blocks per contest in helping lead the Yellow Jackets to their first playoff appearance in 10 years as they compiled 19-11 overall mark, 13-3 in District 24-5A. That campaign culminated in Davis' being named Brazoria County Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year. As a junior, he posted averages of 17.7 points, 10.3 boards and 2.5 blocks, while his sophomore numbers reflected 12.0 ppg. and 9.6 rebounds per contest.

PERSONAL .... A product of Alvin High, Dennis Eugene Davis was born on July 17, 1975, is the son of Mr. and Mrs Clint Hufford of Alvin. Dennis is currently an arts and sciences pre-major at TCU.
