(4/23) TCU wins the WAC Championships by 8 shots over UNLV. Alberto Ochoa fired a final round 69 to finish in 2nd place, three shots behind medalist Andy Miller of BYU.

(4/22) The TCU men's golf team hangs on to lead at the WAC Championships. Deron Zinnecker fired a 68, including two eagles to pace the Frogs to a two shot lead over #1 ranked UNLV.

(4/21) The TCU men's golf team takes a 1 shot lead at the WAC Championships. Alberto Ochoa and Brent Wolf fired 69s; The Frogs are 3 under par (285), 1 shot ahead of #1 ranked UNLV and Fresno State.

(4/13) The TCU men's golf team finished in 3rd place at the Ping Intercollegiate in Cary, NC, 17 shots behind the winner, Clemson. Alberto Ochoa fired a final round 67 to finish in a tie for 2nd place, one shot behind medalist Richard Coughlan of Clemson.

(4/12) The TCU men's golf team is in 6th place (592) after two rounds of the Ping Intercollegiate Golf Championship at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, NC. Alberto Ochoa was tied for third (144, Even).

(11/10) The TCU men's golf team was able to hold off a final round charge by Wake Forest to win the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Intercollegiate. TCU defeated Wake Forest by 4 strokes, shooting 291, for an aggegrate score of 851 (-13). Strong performances were given by Alberto Ochoa and Sal Spallone, who finihsed tied for second individually at 6-under, and J.J. Henry, who also finished under par, with a total of 215. This victory over a number of Top 20 teams establishes the Horned Frogs as one of the teams to beat in college golf. "Now we know we can win, and we'll have more confidence," says Ochoa.

(11/09) TCU shot a 282 (-6) to take a 15 shot lead after the second round of the Palmetto Dunes Collegiate at Hilton Head, SC. TCU was the only team to improve their performance in the 2nd round, as dropping temperatures and cold winds made for less than ideal conditions. Brent Wolf and Sal Spallone led the way with rounds of 69. TCU, which has had early-round leads in the past, is poised to win its first major college event. "We've been in this position before," said Coach Bill Montigel. "We've just haven't done it." Spallone is in 4th overall with a 139; Alberto Ochoa and Brent Wolf are tied for 5th at 140; J.J. Henry is in 10th at 141.

(11/08) TCU has a five shot lead after the first round of the Golf World- Palmetto Dunes Collegiate at Hilton Head, South Carolina. A two hour rain delay made conditions good for scoring. The Frogs 278 (-10) leads Oklahoma State by five strokes. J.J. Henry shot a 68 (-4) and is tied for 3rd, five shots behind SMU's Hank Kuehne who fired a course record 63. Alberto Ochoa is tied for fifth after a 69 (-3). "We played smart golf," said TCU coach Bill Montigel. "And when we missed greens, we were able to get up and down."

(10/28) The TCU men's golf team defeated East Tennessee St, 4-1, to win 3rd place at the Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. Alberto Ochoa d. Keith Nolan, 6 and 5; J.J. Henry d. Brennan Webb, 1 up; Deron Zinnecker d. Shawn Koch, 2 and 1; Sal Spallone d. David Christensen, 1 up; Eamonn Brady d. Brent Wolf 1 up.

(10/27) The TCU men's golf team was defeated by #1 ranked UNLV in the second round of the Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. Earlier, #6 seeded TCU defeated #3 Florida. UNLV's Ted Oh d. Alberto Ochoa, 5 and 4; Bill Lunde d. Deron Zinnecker, 5 and 3; Jeremy Anderson d. Sal Spallone 4 and 3; J.J. Henry halved his match with Mike Ruiz; Brent Wolf d. Gilberto Morales, 3 and 2. The Frogs advance to tomorrow's third place match vs. #8 East Tennessee State, who upset #1 seed Arizona State in the first round.

(10/27) The TCU men's golf team defeated Florida (4.5 to 0.5) in the first round of the Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. The event is being held at the Private Course at PGA West.

(10/24) The Horned Frog golf team travels to LaQuinta, CA this weekend to participate in the inaugural Rolex National Intercollegiate Match Play Team Championships. The two-day, eight-team event will be held October 27-28 at the Tom Weiskopf Private Course at PGA West in LaQuinta.

The five members of each team will play singles matches against their opponents to determine the winning team.

(10/15) The TCU men's golf team rallied to finish 4th at the Taylor Made Red River Classic at the Dallas Athletic Club. Alberto Ochoa finished tied for 10th overall after firing a 68 to finish at 210 (-6). Sal Spallone finished in a tie for 14th, after a round of 70 (211, -5). Chris Wollman of Ohio State finished first overall (-14) after a final round of 64. Wake Forest won by 11 strokes (834, -30)

(10/14) The TCU men's golf team (290-279--569, -7) is tied for 10th after the first round of the Taylor Made Red River Classic. Wake Forest leads with a 556 (-20). Josh Gregory of SMU is the leader after 36 holes with a 135 (-9). Ray Floyd Jr. is tied for second with James Driscoll of Virginia, one shot behind (-8). TCU Freshman Sal Spallone is tied for 21st after a 71-70-141 (-3). Alberto Ochoa (74-68-142) is tied for 28th. J.J. Henry (74-69-143) and Ron Stegall (71-72-143) are tied for 37th.
