Fred Taylor ran for a touchdown and Michael Reeder kicked three field goals -- two of more than 50 yards -- as Texas Christian blanked Texas-El Paso, 18-0, in the Western Athletic Conference for their first shutout in nine years.
TCU (2-3, 1-1 WAC Mountain) stopped a three-game losing streak in its first conference home game. The Horned Frogs posted their first shutout since a 24-0 blanking of Baylor in 1987. The Miners (2-4, 0-3 Mountain) were stopped for the first time since a 52-0 loss to Colorado State in 1993.
Taylor's four-yard run gave TCU a 7-0 lead with 59 seconds left in the first quarter. Basil Mitchell had 90 yards on 21 carries for the Horned Frogs.
A safety by linebacker Kam Hunt gave TCU a 9-0 lead just over four minutes into the second quarter. Reeder kicked a 57-yard field goal with no time on the clock at the end of the first half. Reeder's effort was a TCU school record.
Reeder, who had a 52-yarder against Kansas earlier this year, booted a 51-yarder in the third quarter and added a 44-yarder in the fourth.
The Miners were held to just 85 yards rushing and 52 passing.
