John Williams rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns and John Dover threw for 151 yards and a score as Texas Christian raced to a 42-34 Western Athletic Conference victory over Nevada-Las Vegas, which suffered its 12th straight loss.
Basil Mitchell had 151 yards on 21 carries for the Horned Frogs (3-6, 2-3 WAC), which amassed 318 yards on the ground and ended a two-game losing streak. Dover completed 15-of-20 passes and also ran for a score.
Redshirt freshman Jon Denton was 26-of-47 for 382 yards and three TDs for the Rebels (0-10, 0-6), who have the longest current losing streak in Division I-A. Nevada-Las Vegas had a season-high in points but is allowing 47.8 points per game.
Denton's 80-yard scoring toss to Todd Floyd on the first play from scrimmage gave UNLV the early lead and his four-yard TD to Carlos Baker moved the Rebels back in front, 14-10, with 12:02 left in the first half.
But Michael Reeder's second field goal cut the deficit to 14-13 at halftime and TCU took control in the second half. Lance Williams capped a 69-yard drive with a seven-yard touchdown run and John Williams ran 14 yards for a score under six minutes later.
