- (2/5) TCU announces 1997 signee list
- (1/20) RB John Williams and starting OL Clifton Clemons have left the TCU football program.
- (12/20) TCU hires Phil Bennett as new defensive coordinator
- (12/18) TCU's Michael Reeder has been selected to the GTE Academic
All-American Team.

- (11/02) TCU defeated UNLV, 42-34.
- (10/30) FS Barry Browning will miss a start in the UNLV game because of
an irritated disk in his back. Chris Staten will move to free
safety, and Reggie Hunt will start at strong safety.

- (10/20) DE Chance McCarty and DT Mike Janak did not
play in the Utah game. Jason Tucker reaggravating his hamstring injury, and
was unable to play in the 2nd half.
- (10/19) TCU is defeated by #24 Utah, 21-7.
- (10/18) Game time forecast in Utah: rain with temps in 40s, with
4 to 6 inches of snow in the afternoon.
- (10/18) Bernard Oldham (ankle) has been cleared to play
against Utah. WR Jason Tucker (strained hamstring), DE Chance McCarty
(shoulder) are probable. DT Mike Janak (knee sprain) will be
a game-time decision. LB Kam Hunt (lateral cartilage tear) will have
surgery and be out 2-3 weeks.
- (10/15) DE Daryl Johnson has been suspended for violating athletic
department policy, and his career at TCU may be over. Jeff Dover and
Kevin Colon have returned to the team after their suspension, while
Derek Canine is expected to return to practice next Sunday.
- (10/15) TCU's Michael Reeder was named WAC special teams player of
the week (Mountain Division). Reeder made field goals of 57, 51, and 44 yards against UTEP.

- (10/12) TCU defeats UTEP 18-0.
This was the first shutout for the Frogs since the '87 Baylor game.
Michael Reeder set a school record with his 57 yard field goal, the longest
in TCU school history.
- (10/10) Four TCU football players - defensive tackle Gaylon Hyder,
Kevin Colon, Derek Canine, and Jeff Dover, all quarterbacks -
have been placed on "indefinite suspension" for violation of team
policy, Horned Frog head coach Pat Sullivan announced today.
Hyder, a senior, and Dover, a redshirt freshman, have served as
starters through TCU's first 4 contests of 1996. Canine and Colon,
listed as sophomores, are ineligible for competition in '96 following
their transfers from other four-year schools.

- (10/02) Tulane's Offense - The Green Wave is putting up its best numbers
offensively in 10 years, ranking 2nd in Conference USA in rushing (157), passing
offense (213.7) and total offense (370.7); Soph QB Shaun King was listed
among the top 25 impact freshmen by College Sports magazine; FB Jerald
Sowell has 1534 career yards rushing and 83 career receptions; TB Jamaican
Dartez is a pre-season All-Conference USA selection who became Tulane's
all time freshman runner last season with 544 yards; Tulane's offensive
line includes 5 senior starters that average 305 pounds.
- (10/02) Tulane's Defense - The Green Wave leads the Conference USA in
scoring defense (17.3); 4th in rushing defense (179.3), 6th in passing
efficiency (140.4), 5th in total defense (385.7); Tulane has allowed
only 8 points during the first 3 quarters, but 9.3 points in the fourth
quarter.
- (10/01) TCU strong safety Chris Staten is third in the WAC in tackles (12.3 per game).
- (10/01) TCU is the least penalized team in the WAC at 4.0 penalties
and 30 yards per game.
- (10/01) TCU is 10th in rushing offense, 10th in passing offense, and 11th in
total offense in the latest WAC ratings. The Frogs are 6th in passing defense,
11th in rushing defense, and 8th in total defense.

- (9/29) TCU INJURY SITUATION - In addition to those definitely out for the Tulane
game - starting tight end Travis Wilson (fracture of the left thumb) and
backup wide receiver Tavarus Moore (pulled hamstring) - several other
Horned Frogs nursing a variety of ailments figure to be classified as
"wait and see" performers this week. The list includes: FB Koi Woods
(aggravated knee), deep snapper Ashby Porter (tender hamstring),
LB Jason Illian (sprained ankle), LB Jay Davern (sprained ankle),
and nose tackle Bernard Oldham (tender ankle).

4 games; Starting TE Travis Wilson (fracture of left thumb) will be

- (9/15) Starting offensive tackle Jon Donahue has a dislocated
shoulder and will be out three to four weeks.
- (9/14) TCU is defeated by Kansas, 52-17 in the home opener.
- (9/12) NG Bernard Oldham (sprained ankle), LB Scott Taft (knee
sprain), and FB Chad Renfro (ankle sprain) should be upgraded today
to probable for the Kansas game. WR Tavarus Moore (quad injury) returned
to practice yesterday. WR John Washington (hamstring) is listed as day-to-day.
- (9/10) The TCU Defense is 1st in the WAC in total defense, scoring
defense, pass defense and 3rd against the run.

- (9/09) TCU INJURY SITUATION - The tender ankle of starting nose tackle Bernard
Oldham appears to be the most-serious injury concern for the Frogs stemming
from the OU game. Oldham joins standout wide receiver John Washington
(hamstring), who logged only two plays in the '96 opener. Linebacker
Scott Taft (strained knee-left), and backup receiver Tavarus Moore
(strained knee - right) as those listed as questionable for the KU game
during early week evaluations.
- (9/09) TCU's Defensive End Matt Harper was selected as the WAC Defensive
Player of the Week.
- (9/08) TCU defeats Oklahoma, 20-7. Game Summary
- (9/05) OU expects a crowd of between 65,000 and 70,000.
- (9/05) FB Koi Woods and C Ryan Tucker are the offensive team
captains for the OU game; CB Cedric Allen and LB Geoff Stephens
are the defensive captains.
- (9/04) TCU Coach Pat Sullivan said he will not name the starters
at tailback, tight end, and punter until game time.
- (9/03) Lawson Cooper (6'1", 230), a linebacker from Alief Elsik
High School has transferred to TCU from Georgia. Cooper was a two-time
all-state performer and Blue Chip All-American in high school. Cooper,
a sophomore, played some last year for Georgia as a backup.

C Ryan Tucker (sprained knee) returns to practice;
WR John Washington sits out last 90 minutes
with twinge in left hamstring.
- (8/31) Sophomore Jon Donahue has moved to #1 on the depth chart at
strong tackle; Doug Loeser has moved to #1 at strong guard.
- (8/31) Andre Bruce and Basil Mitchell returned to practice.
- (8/30) DT Gaylon Hyder (left knee sprain) returned to practice;
RBs Andre Bruce and Basil Mitchell will not practice until Monday.
- (8/27) John Washington (strained left hamstring) and
Godfrey White (hamstring strain) returned to practice on Tuesday.
Tailbacks Andre Bruce and Basil Mitchell should return to practice
on Thursday. Both had hamstring injuries. Ryan Tucker (sprained knee)
may return on Monday.
- (8/27) In the KLIF Football Issue, TCU was chosen by Norm
Hitzges as the surprise team of the WAC. According to Hitzges, TCU has
the easiest schedule of any NCAA team, with opponents winning only
38% of their games last season. Oklahoma was chosen as the surprise team of the Big
12 ... for how poor they might be.

- (8/23) C Ryan Tucker suffered a sprained right knee and should be out at least a week; QB Fred Taylor has a sore right throwing shoulder; RBs Andre Bruce and Basil Mitchell both have hamstring injuries.
- (8/21) TCU's Michael Reeder was selected as the preseason first-team all-America Kicker by
ESPN's Sports Zone.
- (8/20) A Tarrant County Grand Jury indicted four TCU football players accused of
beating another student outside a downtown Ft. Worth bar on May 11. The players
(Ryan Tucker, James McFarland, William Thompson, and Jay Davern) were indicted on charges of aggravated assault. They are accused of assaulting Bryan Boyd, who
suffered a fractured skull and partial facial paralysis, according to his attorney.
TCU Head Coach Pat Sullivan said the football players will be allowed to participate
in athletics, at least until the criminal justice process has run its course.
The players have been placed on campus restriction according to campus officials. They
can only come on campus for official business.
- (8/20) There will be a scrimmage this Saturday at 4pm at Amon Carter Stadium.
- (8/20) WR Tim Maiden, a freshman from Dallas Carter, suffered a broken left collarbone, and will
miss at least 6 weeks. Maiden, a third string receiver who is a true freshmen, will
likely redshirt.
- (8/19) RB Basil Mitchell and TE Kyle Williams suffered hamstring injuries. The severity of the injuries will be determined lately.
- (8/17) Six Frog football players missed practice after suffering dehydration, including
Mark Cortez, Ryan Tucker, and Jay Davern. Free Safety Lenward Bentley strained his hamstring during practice.
- (8/14) Fred Taylor arrives and practices. WR Troy Williams, FB Harry Frotson and OG James Smith are
not expected to play this season for TCU due to academics. None were expected to be starters, although Smith was expected to receive significant playing time.
5:00pm (PRIME). Norm Bulaich will again be the co-host.
- (8/09) Russell Gary, a defensive back from La Marque, signed with TCU during the summer, and is expected to report today with the other Freshmen and newcomers.
- (8/09) LB Shannon Brazzell (Lewisville, TX), DB Terrell Sutton (Blinn College),
DB Jamarcus Powers (La Marque, TX), DE Matt Shane (Trinity Valley), and LB Scott
King (Phenix City, AL) did not meet the NCAA academic eligibility standards and will not play for TCU this season.
Brazzell will take the ACT again and hopes to enroll at TCU in Jan. Powers will be going
to Kilgore Jr. College.
- (8/05) Kevin Colon, a 6'3" QB from Deer Park, has transferred to TCU from Texas A&M. Colon was one of the top recruits in the state his senior year, ranking behind Brandon Stewart, who eventually transferred to A&M from Tennessee.
- (8/05) Former SMU starting QB Derek Canine has transferred to TCU. Both QBs will have to sit out this season.
- (7/31) Kickoff time for the TCU/Kansas home opener has been moved to 8:05pm. The game
will be telecast on ESPN2.
- (7/08) The TCU vs Oklahoma football season opener will be broadcast regionally by ABC. Kickoff has been moved to 2:30pm.
