Since 1992, Horned Frog assistant Dan Sharp has been able to reunite with one of his top loves - the tight end football position. Sharp, who had established himself as one of Texas Christian's most exciting footballers during the 1980s, had spent the previous season (1991) at Frogland instructing Texas Christian's defensive ends. Prior to that, the dedicated Sharp had served as a graduate assistant in the Purples' grid program.
Horned Frog faithful, though, best remember Sharp as a prime force on Texas Christian's amazing 1984 ballclub which finished 8-3 en route to a Bluebonnet Bowl appearance. In addition to providing some outstanding blocking for TCU's vaunted running attack, Sharp caught 42 passes for 596 yards and seven touchdowns that season, gaining all-Southwest Conference recognition at tight end along the way.
Following his career at Frogland, Sharp spent the next two seasons in professional football with the Atlanta Falcons before returning to his alma mater in 1988. He received his B.S. degree in secondary education from TCU in 1985, and his masters in liberal arts from there in 1992.
The 34-year-old Sharp is married to the former Cindy Marfin of Boerne, Texas, and they have two children -- Alexandra and Andrea.
