BIRTHDATE: Born January 18, 1950, Birmingham, Alabama
EDUCATION: John Carroll High School, Birmingham, Alabama- 1968.
Auburn University, B.A. in Business Administration 1972.

COACHING EXPERIENCE: nine years (1986-95) assistant at Auburn University (as quarterbacks coach) and last two as an offensive assistant; fifth year (1992-96) head coach at Texas Christian University.

PLAYING EXPERIENCE: Three-year starter (Quarterback) at Auburn - 1969-71.
Five seasons of professional football (1972-77) with Atlanta Falcons (four years) and Washington Redskins (one year).

HONORS: Heisman Trophy winner, 1971; consensus all-American, 1970 and 1971; academic all-American, 1972; member of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame, 1991, co-SWC Coach of the Year, 1994; runner-up American Football Quarterly Coach of the Year, 1994.

FAMILY: Married to the former Jean Hicks of Birmingham, Alabama. Three children daughters Kim and Kelly, and son, Patrick.
