This veteran college football assistant was hired to coach the TCU running backs three years ago and it has been an excellent matchup As much time as standout Andre Davis wound up spending in opponents' secondaries, he spent a good deal more with Casey.
A native of Dothan, Alabama, the dogmatic Casey offers over two decades of collegiate coaching experience including lengthy stints at Georgia Tech, Texas Tech and Auburn.
Casey was a member of the Auburn football staff from 1981 through 1992, where his chief responsibility had been directing the Tiger running backs. Previously, he had served at Texas Tech (1978-80), where he was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach; at Georgia Tech (1972-77) in a variety of offensive capacities; and at Tampa (1971) where he guided that program's running backs.
As a collegian, Casey was a stellar, two-way tackle, first at Alabama (1958, 1959 and 1961) and then at Northeastern Oklahoma State University. After gaining all-conference honors at NOSU, Casey played tight end for the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Drahmans in 1966.
He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Northeastern Oklahoma State in 1965, then added a master's degree in guidance counseling from that university two years later.
Casey and his wife, the former Mary Ann Cobb of Dothan, Alabama, have two sons - Scott and Bart and a daughter, Starr
