Coach Pat Sullivan was pleased with the 90 minute scrimmage. Max Knake completed a 40-yard touchdown pass to Jason Tucker, and a 52 yard pass to Chris Brasfield, after shaking off the rust early. He completed 6 of 16 passes. Brasfield and Tucker also earned praise from Sullivan. Dana Robinson, formerly a defensive back, was the leading rusher with 49 yards on eight carries. Tucker had 5 receptions for 89 yards. Backup QB Todd Stanford was 7 of 14 for 69 yards.
On defense, Tyrone Roy, Chris Piland, and Gaylon Hyder were the big contributors. The secondary and linebackers showed better pursuit to the ball than in the past. Kicker Michael Reeder nailed his three field goal attempts.
The Frogs were sluggish during this final scrimmage before the season opener. The purpose of the scrimmage was more to go over different game situations than to play an actual game.
"I thought we'd have gotten beat if we'd played another team tonight," said Sullivan. "We've got to understand that it is an all-the-time thing. You can't just show up. We've got to play every game like it's the most important of our lives."
Sullivan was pleased with the performances of the young quarterbacks and linebackers.
