Storyline
Andre Davis rushed for 166 yards and scored four touchdowns. Davis set a school record with the 14th 100 yard rushing game of his career.
Chuck Clements completed 35 of 48 passes for 401 yards against the Frogs pass defense, which came into the game ranked 4th in the nation.
Knake established a TCU record for touchdowns responsible for with 45, topping the legendary Sammy Baugh's 44.
Michael Reeder tied the TCU record for consecutive field goals when he made his 9th in a row in the first quarter.
The attendance of 34,684 was the largest crowd to watch a TCU/Houston game at Amon Carter. The previous high was 25,412 (another reason this is the last year of the SWC). Take away the cheerleaders and band, and the number of cougar fans in attendance might have been able to ride together in a minivan.
The defense deserves credit for shutting out the Cougars in the first half, while the offense sputtered. Rick LaFavers' interception which led to a late 2nd quarter touchdown was a key play.
A number of second team defensive players received playing time in the 4th quarter, and performed well.
