Storyline
38,126 were in attendance on Baylor Homecoming, on a great afternoon for football.
TCU cornerback Godrey White blocked Van Dyke's 44 yard field goal attempt in the first quarter, got his fingertips on his 47 yard attempt in the third, and a hand on an extra point attempt that just managed to clear the crossbar.
The TCU defense did a great job of shutting Baylor down following Frog turnovers. Rick LaFavers thwarted one effort with an interception of Jerod Douglas' halfback pass attempt. Following Jason Tucker's third quarter fumble, the defense kept the Frogs in the game by holding Baylor to a missed field goal.
The banged-up Frog secondary had problems covering Baylor's Pearce Pegross, who had 8 receptions for 123 yards, and was open on a couple of other occasions when Watson threw poor passes.
Turning points: (1) Muhammad's long kickoff return and the added personal foul gave Baylor great field position late in 2nd quarter, following Frog touchdown. This led to a Douglas touchdown run, and gave Baylor an 11 point half-time lead. (2) Robinson's great leaping interception of Knake pass in the endzone, that would have narrowed the score to 27-24.
(3) Any realistic chance for a miracle comeback ended when John Washington's outstanding pass catch and run was called back for illegal motion. (4) Baylor's ability to score touchdowns when reaching the redzone (4 of 4).
