Entering his second season as a member of the Horned Frog baseball staff is former TCU hurler Britt Shoptaw. He works closely with the pitching staff and supervision of field maintenance.
Shoptaw, who is working on his Master's in Liberal Arts, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from TCU in 1992.
The 28-year old native of Little Rock, AR compiled a won-loss mark of 19-19 in three years at TCU. His 19 wins ranks third all-time on the career victories list. He recorded an earned run average of 5.07 in his 52 career appearances.
Shoptaw won seven games in the 1991 season as the Frogs advanced for the first time to the Southwest Conference Post-Season Tournament. In 1990, he was named the Ex-Players Outstanding pitcher after posting a 7-7 overall record with an ERA of 3.80.
Prior to joining Lance Brown and the TCU staff, Shoptaw had served as assistant baseball coach at Denton, TX High School from 1992-94. The Broncos advanced to the State playoffs both years.
He is a graduate of Little Rock McClellan High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He was an all-district, all-region and all-state honoree in both his junior and senior seasons.
