Brown Announces the Signing of 10 Players

FORT WORTH -- TCU head baseball coach Lance Brown announced Wednesday he has signed 10 players to national letters of intent.

Brown signed six high school standouts and four junior college transfers. In addition, for 1997, Brown gained the services of two college transfers.

The 1996 high school signees are Tom Bates, a freshman outfielder from Sugar Land (Clements), Cade Harris, LHP from Elk City, Oklahoma, Craft Hughes, an infielder from Abilene (Cooper), Shawn Thompson, a RHP from Missouri City (Elkins), Terrance White, an infielder from Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Darren Wood, an outfielder from Fort Worth (Arlington Heights).

The junior college transfers are Chris Connally, an outfielder from McClennan Junior College, Aaron Carruth, a RHP from Seminole Junior College, Jay LaFlair, an infielder from McClennan Junior College and Ismael Segarra, a catcher from North Central Texas Community College.

Transferring to TCU from other Division I schools are Benji Keith, a sophomore outfielder from Crowley, who lettered last season at Texas and Jeff Shaddix, a junior RHP from Porter, who spent two seasons at Rice University. Both players are eligible immediately.
