University Christian Church is a congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Born on the American frontier in the early 1880's, the Christian Church began as a movement calling for unity among all who professed belief in Jesus Christ and who accepted the Bible as the source of Christian learning and living.

Disciples symbol The communion chalice which bears the X-shaped St. Andrew's Cross is the symbol for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The chalice embodies our belief that the Lord's supper is central to each worship service and is open to all Christians.

University Christian Church began in Thorp Spring in 1873 as a community of worship for Texas Christian University faculty and families. The school and its "university church" moved to Waco in 1895 and to Fort Worth in 1911. Ground was broken for its present building in 1929.

UCC is now a congregation of more than 3000 members from throughout the Metroplex. We are a diverse body of God's people, sharing life and faith. Like the bricks in the beautiful interior walls of our sanctuary, we are individual, distinctive, and yet held together by the common mortar of God's love and Christ's mission.
