Sharing Gifts

When you come into a town and the people make you feel welcome . . . eat the food provided for you . . . heal the sick there . . . you say to yourself, "The Kingdom of God has come near us today." Luke 10:8-9

Sharing school supplies

We had come to El Rosario prepared to help, and we brought gifts of clothing and supplies for the children as well as for the adults. But there were many things we hadn't counted on.

For example, it was a real joy to see the smiling faces of the children as they eagerly tried out the new scissors and crayons we had brought them.

But we had no way of knowing they would be equally excited about the plastic packaging that had been wrapped around these items, packaging that we had prepared to throw away, but packaging that quickly became a soccer ball for the village school children.

Teddy Bear

And how were we to know that the "Texas Teddy Bear" we brought along as a gift from school children in Fort Worth would be the first stuffed animal any of these people had ever seen?
